the recipe was kept as a secret because of the baits ability to catch large numbers of fish.
In 1989 DOC-LOC LLC bought the recipe from the estate of the original maker. This
was after we had tried to copy the bait for sometime without success. We
thought we knew how it was made, but we were wrong. We had tried fish food,
scents, colors, but never had it right.
In 2000 we placed the SECRET BAIT in the trout parks. and the stores
sold out the first week. One angler caught a
five fish limit that tipped the scales at 21lb the biggest of the five fish
being 12lb.

How to use Secret Bait.
Roll a SMALL tear shaped ball of Secret Bait and place it on a #18 treble hook on 2 or 4# SOS Trout Line.
NOTE
HOOK SIZE IS SMALL
Rig the line with a E-Z Trout Float, and adjust the depth of the bait to eye level to the trout.
(NOTE:) A small split shot may be used about 8" above the hook.
The basic plan of action is like this. Wade upstream so you'll always be approaching the fish from behind his back where he is less likely to see you. Fish with a small hook and a small bobber or strike indicator. Use something that will sink down below the bobber, like Secret Bait dough bait, or a small worm Like the Lucky Lady Trout Worm-- nothing with the words "floating" or "power bait" in their name. As you approach a possible holding spot, you have to make a decision regarding the desired depth of your bait and adjust the location of your bobber and sinker up or down (To Eye Level to the Fish.) Cast your bait at least 15 feet upstream of where you think the fish is holding and allow the bait to drift toward the fish. If the bobber stops even for a moment lift your rod tip and set the hook. This strategy will net you bunches of trout when others complain that all the trout have already been pulled out.
Secret bait is made to slowly dissolve into the water. This places the scent into the current and attracts trout. If Their are several trout in the area, they will go into a feeding frenzy and compete for the bait.
If no trout are attracted to the area after six or more cast, move to another area, and repeat.
