ABOUT THE MAGNET
The unique 1/64oz shad dart head and split tail allows the lure to fall horizontally rather than vertically. Their entire food source flows down the stream with the current. This is why most jigs do not work for trout. The Trout Magnet, on the other hand, flows naturally with the stream. With constant 1" to 3" twitches of the rod tip, the lure looks life-like as it flows downstream. Most jigs would not respond to this type of rod tip motion.
Our preferred method is to fish the Trout Magnet under an E-Z Trout Float. The float serves as a strike indicator as well as keeping the lure at the appropriate depth—allowing the lure to remain in the feeding zone longer. Simply set the E-Z Trout Float at the depth just above the river bed and allow the Trout Magnet to flow naturally with the current.

Use a
light-action rod like our SLS-156. A stiff, sensitive rod allows you to cast
further, feel subtle strikes, and fight larger fish.
Use 2
or 4 pound test line. Trout S.O.S. is specifically designed for trout and other
light-line fishing. It is crucial to use a line that is small in diameter,
obscure in color, and strong enough to handle the big ones!
The E-Z
Trout Float is perfect for controlling the depth of the Trout Magnet—keeping
it in the trout’s feeding zone (just above the river bed). The slot makes
adding the float and adjusting the depth a breeze.
In
faster moving water, place a small BB shot around 12” to 14” above the Trout
Magnet.

Magnet Hook Up: The Trout Magnet should be tied directly to your line. The
shad-dart head should be tight to the head of the jig and the hook should come
out of the split of the tail, keeping the body straight
